The great operation against drugs and money laundering that was launched a few days ago in Palma has been closed with the seizure of 1,400 kilos of hashish, 170,000 euros, several luxury cars and the closure of four marijuana plantations. The operations have also detected the construction of a luxury urbanization in Morocco with the money obtained from drug trafficking and investigators have blocked 60 current accounts and several real estate.
The Civil Guard has presented the details of this operation, which ended with 30 people arrested including the historic drug trafficker from Mallorca, Francisca Cortes, 'La Paca', to whom the agents attribute a secondary role on this occasion.
Upon her arrival at the courts, the matriarch of the village of Son Banya addressed the journalists. "He hasn't even given me time to traffic," he said in his defense. 'La Paca' has just been released from prison, where he was in the third degree of penitentiary for previous drug trafficking operations. He is one of seven detainees who has re-entered the prison.
Wiretaps have been decisive for the arrest of 'La Paca' and the other members of the organization, in a network that also reaches the province of Tarragona. The agents have made a total of 53 entries and registrations, both in Mallorca and Tarragona.
The researchers detected drug movements between the Balearic Islands and the Peninsula
The Civil Guard reports in a statement that the investigation began in 2021 when it was detected that a group of people from the Balearic Islands introduced drugs from the Peninsula. The detainees used double funds in vehicles to hide and transport drugs and money.
For the development of the operation, the Civil Guard has articulated an extensive police device with the participation of different units of the Balearic Area, as well as the Rapid Action Group (GAR) and the Reserve and Security Group (ARS) displaced to Mallorca from several provinces.
Specialists from Madrid have participated in the operation
Likewise, several specialists from the Cynological Group belonging to the Pardo School (Madrid) have also participated, accompanied by dogs trained in the search for drugs, money and weapons and the support of the Balearic Air Unit.
There are seven people in prison, including Francisca Cortés, as she was in the third degree. The operation remains open and it is not ruled out that more arrests may occur in the coming days given the complexity of the investigations that are being developed.
